I came across this site (see below) recently. It provides a variety of FREE applications (most are for OSX, some are for WIN XP, and Linux). Everything from maintenance utilities to graphics utilities, web browsers, programming tools etc. Some very neat and innovative stuff available for download--worth checking out.

TED

A friend of mine sent this site to me. I have not had a chance to spend much time there, but it seems like a really neat/informative site. The premise for the site is gathering together the world's most famous thinkers/doers, and challenging them to give the "talk of their lives" in 18 minute video clips (topics are wide ranging).

Librarian's Manifesto

I found this really neat YouTube video (below) that touches on some of the important aspects of information technology--and how it has changed with the new Web 2.0.

Mainly I liked this "manifesto" because it addressed the need for libraries and librarians to create a "comfort zone on the vanguard of change". In other words, things change so fast in the "world of information" that we need to be open to changing the way we do things so we don't become obsolete--even if changing the way we do things is difficult and labour intensive.

This quote from the video seemed to sum things up quite nicely for me "I will let go of previous practices if there is a better way to do things now, even if these practices once seemed so great." To me this quote demonstrates how important it is not to become stagnant in your work environment--how one must constantly change and adapt in order to progress.
